Difficulty Sleeping

Difficulty sleeping may involve trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, waking too early, or feeling unrefreshed. Causes can include stress, schedule changes, pain, medications, sleep apnea, mood conditions, or other medical problems. Your provider will review sleep patterns, caffeine and alcohol use, medications, and daytime symptoms. A care plan may include sleep-routine changes, treatment of contributing conditions, and evaluation for sleep testing when appropriate. Seek urgent help for severe mood symptoms or thoughts of self-harm.
